Life under a cherry tree
Salvage requires no immediate revolutions. It is intuitive and gentle enough to be accepted by most as simple common sense. It is not to be mistaken for a “solution”. It is a way of going forward that allows us to start building arguments and knowhow. It offers the space and the means - however fraught and uncomfortable - to start imagining futures.
This exhibition brings together a collection of building materials that strongly resist reuse. Their stubborn nature is not only the fact they are hard to reclaim in practice, but a magnitude of other unintelligible reasons. They are incompatible with the logics and customs of today’s world and the path for prolonging their use remains unknown.
