Mapping the German salvage trade
On Saturday 1st October, the exhibition “Mapping the German salvage business” opened at the Architekturschaufenster gallery, in Karlsruhe.
The exhibition has been created by the students of the KIT's Departement of Architecture. It presents the results of the impressive work carried out by the students over the last few months. They traveled all over Germany to visit companies specialised in the reclamation and the sale of reusable building materials, and brought back pictures, interviews, stories but also superb material samples. These constitute the core of the exhibition.
This first approach suggests that there are many, many more of such companies located in Germany awaiting to be visited and documented.
Congratulations to all the students for their work, their motivation and their enthusiasm!
The exhibition can be visited until 18 October during the gallery's normal opening hours. You can also check the results of this work on the Opalis Sandbox.
